At the heart of Hampden County is the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ third largest city: Springfield. Home to more than 150,000 residents, it prides itself on being the "City of First" as well as the "City of Homes." Springfield offers residents and visitors alike gems like the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, the Armory, the Quadrangle (home to several museums), and Symphony Hall. In addition, MGM Springfield has added a world-class casino, providing many wonderful entertainment options. The recently renovated Union Station helps consolidate the mass transit into and out of the city. There’s a lot happening in the “City of Homes,” and with its relatively affordable housing compared to many surrounding communities, it’s certainly a great spot to call home.
